Agnes Lightfoot

Agnes Lightfoot

President

I am honored to serve as President of the Democratic Women’s Club of Flagler County. Throughout my career, I have held leadership positions managing teams of professional sales executives, and I am proud to apply those leadership, organizational, and communication skills to strengthen our club and its mission.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Morgan State University. My professional career included positions with IBM, Xerox, and Verizon, where I concluded my career before retiring.

For more than two decades, I have been an active member of the Palm Coast community. My volunteer and leadership experience includes serving as President of the Friends of Tennis Club, President of the Family Life Center Board of Directors,  Flagler County Executive Airport Advisory Board and currently, Parks & Recreation Advisory Board.

As President of the Democratic Women’s Club of Flagler County, I have been instrumental in developing and promoting the Shirley Chisholm Trail and commemorative plaque in Palm Coast, initiatives that honor the legacy of Rep. Shirley Chisholm.

I believe that my professional experience, community involvement, and commitment to public service have helped position the Democratic Women’s Club of Flagler County as a respected leader within the state organization. I remain dedicated to expanding our outreach, developing future leaders, and creating meaningful opportunities for civic engagement throughout our community.

Joann Soman

Pat Smith

2nd Vice President

I was born and raised in Kansas, and lived in Colorado, Illinois, Virginia, and Germany.  I taught business and technology classes in public high schools in Kansas and Virginia and for the Department of Defense Schools in Vilseck, Germany.  In 1999, I retired from Fairfax County Schools in Virginia and moved to Flagler Beach.  I missed teaching and taught adult education computer classes in Flagler and Volusia Counties.  Then I returned to teaching full-time business and technology classes in St. Johns County schools for 10 years.

My love of bicycling allows me to really see the world around me—not just from the window of a car while speeding down the road.  In addition to being an active member of the Democratic Women’s Club of Flagler County, I am an active member of SIS (Seeking Insights for Solutions), and the University Women of Flagler.  I enjoy reading and belong to three book clubs in Flagler and Volusia counties.

Ann Playe

Board Secretary

I moved to Palm Coast from Massachusetts in 2007. I work part-time as a counselor helping students with college choices, applications and financial aid appeals. Before that, I worked in college admissions and financial aid. My first political activism was wearing a big Kennedy for President button in my VERY Republican hometown. I am presently the Board Secretary for the DWC of Flagler County after having served as Recording Secretary.

Myra

Myra Smith

Technology Chair

I retired from my career as a college admission and financial aid professional in 2012.  In that capacity served in financial aid and enrollment management positions at Smith College, Yale University, and the College Board. After moving to Palm Coast,  I became involved in church and community with particular focus on issues facing low income/no income families.  I joined the DWCFlagler shortly after moving here and became involved both on a local and state level.  For the past two years I coordinated state-wide texting campaigns for the Democratic Women's Club of Florida and was recognized by the DWCF as "Grassroots Campaigner of the Year" in 2022.  I'm currently helping the DWCFlagler with technical issues and the Flagler DEC with texting and email campaigns.  I firmly believe that is incumbent on all of us to put in the work in to make this state and this country truely "indivisable, with justice for all".  Let's do it!
